The Management Consultant

Maithilee Shirgaonkar-Jamsandekar is a management consultant with over seventeen years of experience working with the C-suite of companies, from start-ups to US$ 10 Bn corporations, both global and Indian. She advises educational institutions and CXOs of growth-stage start-ups, SMEs and large corporations on strategic visioning, strategy development, corporate innovation, business excellence, and business process restructuring.

Prior to her current stint as an independent consultant, Maithilee served with Mahindra & Mahindra as Deputy General Manager, Innovation, where she architected, established and anchored the Innovation Centre of Excellence at the Mahindra Group, which focussed on building an ecosystem that engenders innovation.

At Mahindra’s Group Strategy Office (Chairman’s Office), Maithilee led strategic projects across several Group businesses, including automotive, farm equipment, logistics, financial services, agribusiness and hospitality. Her project repertoire includes the Marketing, Finance, Human Resource Development, Information Technology, and Procurement functions. She was instrumental in putting in place and institutionalising several frameworks on strategy, branding and innovation management, including the branding guidelines under the ‘Rise’ framework, particularly the online strategy for the Mahindra Group, the Balanced Score Card for business performance monitoring, and benchmarks to global best practices in topical areas.

Prior to Mahindra, Maithilee consulted at A T Kearney, a global strategy consulting firm, and CRISIL, India’s leading credit rating agency, in the Asia-Pacific and Middle East regions. Her contributions spanned across industries including automotive, petrochemicals, real estate, infrastructure, IT and retail.

Maithilee is skilled in translating strategic priorities into operational level performance measures and targets for B2C, B2G and B2B businesses. Over the past decade and a half, she has honed her skills not only in the objective areas of strategic visioning, problem-solving and trend-spotting, but also in the subjective aspects of mentoring-coaching, capability building, stakeholder alignment, and client management. Her vast exposure to a cosmopolitan and global work environment has afforded her the ability to work with people across hierarchies, industries and cultures to get things done.

Maithilee holds an MBA from Said Business School, University of Oxford, UK, and a Law degree from University of Mumbai, India. She is a post-graduate in Economics and Politics from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai, India.

Maithilee serves as the Alumni Ambassador for Oxford Business Alumni in India. She has also served as a career counsellor with the Oxford Women’s Leadership Community, and as a Mentor for Oxford alumnae. She writes regularly on topics of innovation, strategy, branding, and corporate careers, among others, on LinkedIn and on this blog. She has also authored e-courses on Strategy as well as Work-Life Balance for corporate employees for OneHourLearning, an online education company.

In her spare time, she champions the cause of environmental sustainability through her community development work with a rural community college in Maharashtra, where she serves as a Strategic Advisor and visiting faculty.
